Because of the above, and in response to the desire to move science and engineering closer to students, particularly at universities, the Institute designed a case-based teaching program.

The purpose of this program is to convert selected ISCI research into a case-study format. This initiative’s particularity lies in the belief that theoretical knowledge may be taught through the concrete application of a real dilemma. This system is highly pedagogical, since students, based on real situations and specific data, must design models to solve those problems, using the tools and techniques provided by complex systems engineering.

This is not commonplace in Chile. The idea is to produce available material to assist the country’s educational system in topics of general interest and which may be addressed from the field of engineering, but expressed in a language that is fully understood by the students.

Below is a description of the cases developed at the Institute, the specifics of which may be downloaded by clicking on the appropriate link.

Important: Each Study Case includes a document for the student and the correspondent teaching notes for the professor (which includes possible solutions for the problem and methodological support for the case application). It is possible to download only the student’s material from our website.
